About Hazel
I am a violin tutor with 7 years of experience and a Doctor of Philosophy in Violin Studies. I enjoy helping students discover that steady practice and encouraging guidance lead to lasting musical success.
My teaching style is flexible, supportive, and focused on helping every learner reach their personal goals. I encourage students to build confidence while developing disciplined practice habits and artistic expression.
Outside teaching, I enjoy performing with chamber ensembles, researching violin techniques, and arranging music for string groups. These experiences help me bring practical performance experience into every lesson.

My violin lessons help students develop reliable skills through patient instruction and structured practice. We focus on posture, bow movement, finger placement, rhythm accuracy, intonation, scales, tone quality, string transitions, and expressive phrasing using carefully planned exercises and enjoyable repertoire. Every lesson creates a supportive environment for confident learning.
As learners improve, we explore vibrato, shifting, sight reading, chamber music, recital preparation, ear training, musical interpretation, and effective practice strategies. I provide personalized feedback and practical techniques that help students build confidence while refining both technical and artistic abilities.
My goal is to help students enjoy learning the violin while becoming expressive and technically skilled musicians. Every lesson develops confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for string music.
