I have been working as a professional violin teacher and performer for the last 8 years. I love teaching, and learn so much from my students. I aim to make lessons fun and enjoyable, as well as insisting my students work hard!

I have a grade 8 distinction from ABRSM

I teach mostly from a base in Hexham, but I also teach from home in Langley. I would be willing to travel in the area: Corbridge, Allendale, Riding Mill etc
- When are you available?
I am available after school during the week.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and abilities, my students range from 5 to 65!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I use the ABRSM system with my classical students, and with my folk students I use the Fiddle Time series
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Learning an instrument is about what you put into it. If you remember to practice regularly - even just a small amount to begin with - you can make great progress. Playing the violin has been such a rewarding experience for me. I have met so many lovely people, and played in some fantastic places. I have a large number of adult students, and would really encourage anyone who is thinking about learning the violin, but perhaps feels like they have left it too late, to get in touch. It is never too late to learn! I am currently in the process of organising an adult folk group for all my adult students, so we can all perform together and put on regular ceilidhs for friends and family!
- What kind of experience do you have?
After school I moved to Leeds and studied English Literature. During this time, I joined a few bands, and spent a lot of my free time performing. After travelling for a while, I started to work for the Gateshead Music Service as a peripatetic teacher. I have worked there for nearly 9 years, and as a private teacher for longer. As a peripatetic teacher, I have taught whole class lessons, as well as small group and one to one. I have also helped to organise violin play days, and I have organised and conducted youth orchestras in that time.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied with Erado Evans, Kyra Humphreys and Bradley Creswick
