Currently accepting students who are preparing for university entrance exams!!!
My lessons are flexible in nature to meet the individual personalities of my students. However, a normal lesson usually follows this pattern:
Stretching/Yoga -> Sound Improvisation (Open Ears and Flexible Mind) -> Violin Lesson (work through music pieces ranging from classical to pop, piece analysis, discussions and praxis of violin technique)
My goals:
1) To help students develop their ability to listen and hear sounds: It is a very satisfying feeling to have fine-tuned ears and to be more aware of the input of sounds around us.
2) To help students be mindful of what sounds they want to produce in advance, in order to achieve those sounds.
3) For students to have a better understanding of music theory and the foundations of 'what is going on' in the music they perform. Students will be able to better analyse the music they play.
4) To expose students to a wide range of violinistic colours, so they can better distinguish what is pleasing to them and what is not.
5) To guide the students to record/perform a piece of music to give them the experience of performing and sharing their music.
Good music is extremely fun to listen to, and it can also be extremely engaging and fun in a positively challenging way to MAKE MUSIC oneself. I am happy to guide the student in this process of opening up a whole new world of flow and enjoyment!

Joaena is not only an unbelievably warm and friendly character, she is also a musical genius with a natural talent for teaching. Her violin skills are nothing short of incredible and she has played professionally with some of the best and most famous orchestras in the world.
Even though she is a highly trained musician with an impressive and prestigious academic background, she has a humble, modest and extremely patient attitude which made me feel at ease with her immediately. Her lovely and sunny personality made it easy for me to relax during my lessons with her.
Learning to play the violin together with Joaena feels effortless, and it is also fun. Definitely recommend!View more recommendations

Details
• In the first free lesson, we will chat and get to know one another and the student's playing level. I will also bring a duo piece that we could play together. We will also discuss how long one lesson should be, depending on the age and level of the student. There is a charge of 15£ should the student prefer that I travel to them.
• Once the student decides to take lessons from me, I would prefer it if the student can travel to me, but if this is not possible, I am happy to travel as well. I charge 10£ per travelling hour.
• I ask for 20£ for lessons cancelled less than 24 hours before a scheduled lesson.
