About Vivian
I'm Viv, I'm 27 and I live in Weymouth, Dorset. I've been playing the guitar since the age of 13 and teaching since the age of 21. I developed an early interest in rock and metal after listening to Green Day as a teenager. I challenged myself early on with learning some of the most iconic rock and metal tracks including Master of Puppets, Crazy Train and Through The Fire and Flames. I achieved Grade 8 Rock School Electric Guitar after just 5 years of playing. At age 18, I placed 33rd out of more than 250 contestants in an international professional performance and songwriting contest called "Guitar Idol." I believe in practice and consistency, and am passionate about turning my students into the next Tim Henson.

I achieved a Merit at Grade 8 Rock School Electric Guitar in 2015 and also a B in Music Technology A-Level. I can teach all ages and abilities. Lessons are typically one hour. I can teach a range of topics including but not limited to music theory, techniques (sweep picking, tapping, alternate picking, hybrid picking, finger picking etc...), reading sheet music and TAB, learning by ear and branding in the music industry. I teach using a combination of examples, exercises, songs and improvisation/composition. My lessons are particularly tailored for those who want to compose and be rock and metal lead guitarists but ultimately I can cater for most students' goals and needs.
