I feel it's important to make sure lessons are student-led. Because comfort and safety are important when working with voice, I make it a priority to make sure students feel seen and heard. To use your voice effectively and experiment safely, establishing trust and relaxation are key. Lessons might involve speaking, vocal exercises, singing, or a combination of all three depending on your goals.
I specialise in vocal technique (speaking and/or singing) for transgender and non-binary people. This might mean raising or lowering pitch, improving control, learning to read music, project, or just experiment in a safe environment. I conduct London Trans Choir, where I work with a wide range of people to help them explore and fully use their voices. I hold an MMus in performance from McGill Univerisity, a BMus in performance from UBC, and I've been working in theatre as an actor/director for the last decade. I'm transgender myself, and have worked with a number of teachers over the years to adapt my changed voice.
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy and charge an additional £10 to travel (schedule permitting). I'm happy to offer discounts for blocks of lessons, provided they're paid in advance.
