About the lesson
I think it's important to focus a lesson on what you are learning in school/college or uni. I see no benefit in you trying to learn about multiple areas at the same time, so we can discuss how your recent classes have been, work on any sticking points and go through worked examples if necessary. I absolutely believe that practice and repetition is essential to using maths with confidence, so there will be time for you to work through examples yourself, with me looking over your shoulder. I'll also keep an eye on your layout and presentation. Well laid-out maths is easier to follow...which benefits the person marking it as well as you!
After that, I usually go back to an older topic to keep that fresh in your mind. Something has to be at the start of a syllabus.... so it's usually the first thing that gets forgotten! Alternatively... we can work on other sticking points if you need.
I particularly enjoyed Maths & Physics at both primary & secondary school. I studied Maths to CSYS level and Physics to Advanced Higher in 6th year (2000-2001.)
After school, I studied Electronics & Electrical Engineering at the University of Glasgow and graduated B.Eng (Hons.) in 2006.
I have (successfully!) taken on linchpin lab & workshop roles over the years. I have an advanced understanding of PC hardware and design and i'm a very capable repair & modification technician (including surface-mount.) A parallel Interest of mine is in thermodynamics & cryogenics. I've performed public demonstations to large numbers of people and advised members of London Fire Brigade on health & safety aspects of cryogenic handling.
I took time out to be a full-time carer for a family member (2010-2013.) I'm now entirely self-employed/freelance.
