While I can do the most for beginners with no previous experience, amateurs and professionals alike are welcome in my class! Justin is a great teacher — shares a lot of his experience of the last 25 years of DJing. Learn things you wouldn’t expect!
Justin has 30 years of experience crossing over the boundaries of DJ music and technical platforms for music sharing. His notable background includes helping to found an run a collective of DJ artists that have performed in Chicago for years. Though he is less involved, "Ill Measures" is still a known entity in Chicago. He also worked as a performer with a noted contemporary composer when he was Artist in Residence for the Chicago Symphony and The Kennedy Center in DC. He continues to work with this same composer to develop and sponsor a series in the San Francisco area that produces four events a year of combined classical and electronic instrumentation. However, his most important quality for this work is that he is an exceptional teacher with the skills and patience to nurture the evolving interest of people who are exploring electronic music for both personal and professional interests.
Justin and I run a label together and spend a lot of time in collaboration. He is a living encyclopedia of knowledge about DJing, dance music, music technology and history. And he is a great mentor — even a single DJ lesson with Justin will leave you wiser and more confident on your path to becoming a better DJ.

I have sent many talents his way for guidance at any level. Justin has a passion for all genres of electronica and is familiar with every method of playing, from vinyl to CDJ to MIDI controllers.
He also brings a pro's experience as a club promoter and event producer to the table. I recommend him with the highest confidence.I am Justin's mother. I have seen him tech often. He helps me with computer problems and is very patient. He is the IT person for my teaching organizations. My partners rave about how they are able to learn when he explains complicated things to them. I've seen him patiently help a young person learn to use power tools. He's been a DJ for 30 years so I'm sure he can use his teaching skills well.
He has been great at pivoting and helping me w even just some basic computer skills and organization of music as well as some sharing some music for a gig I was doing and has helped me tremendously to help me get up and running smoothly.
