Writing is not a difficult act, but it is an act that requires all of your attention and personal zest. Only you can write your paragraph, load it with personality, and buff it to perfection. A paragraph represents you just like a school picture does on picture day, so it is best to give it your all.

A. Let's say a student brings a paragraph draft to me. The first thing I do as a reader is check for a topic sentence; the next thing I read for is a point of view backed by evidence from the text (written or verbal) that is being discussed. If the student needs to sharpen the writing, I introduce the idea of a scheme:
1. Topic Sentence
2. Further explanation
3. Evidence to back up theTS
4. Explanation of 3 and its link to 1
5 . Thesis statement or a concluding idea.
B. What sets me apart as a tutor is that I am a practicing writer. I am currently writing a novel, which will most likely end next week. I practice what I preach/teach.
C. Writing is for everyone at all levels. I have taught 8th graders how write paragraphs, and I have taught 12 graders how to
write paragraphs: Every single grade level needs this practice just like we need air.
