About Avuyile
I am a first-generation university student from Gauteng with Eastern Cape roots, and education has never been something I take lightly. Getting to Wits was not just an academic achievement but it was the result of teachers who genuinely showed up for me, who explained things twice without sighing, who saw potential before I fully saw it in myself. This is my way of paying that forward.
I want to tutor because I remember exactly what it felt like to sit with a subject that would not click, to lose marks on something I understood but could not express correctly, or to only discover the right way to approach an essay question after the exam had already passed. The clarity I wish I had earlier, the shortcuts, the frameworks, the confidence is exactly what I want to give my students now.
Teaching, for me, is not just a service. It is something I genuinely care about. I want to be the kind of tutor a student remembers years later, not because I was impressive, but because something finally made sense in our sessions.

Hi! I'm Avuyile, a first-year student at the University of the Witwatersrand and a recent matric graduate with four distinctions and a Bachelor's pass. I know the NSC curriculum inside out, not from a textbook, but because I just lived it.
My lessons are interactive, relaxed, and built entirely around you. No lectures, no passive note-copying. Instead, we have real conversations about the work, use past papers as problem-solving exercises, turn essay structures into visual frameworks, and break down complex content into frameworks your brain actually retains. I want you to leave every session feeling clearer and more confident than when you arrived and not more overwhelmed.
What genuinely sets me apart is that I tutor in both English and isiXhosa. If you process and think more naturally in isiXhosa, we work in isiXhosa with no code-switching stress, no lost meaning, just full comprehension. Most tutors simply can't offer that.
My background in Psychology and International Relations also means I understand how people learn, not just what they need to learn so I adapt my approach to suit your specific learning style rather than using a one-size-fits-all method.
What to expect from a typical session:
A quick check-in on what's been covered in class, targeted work on your specific problem areas, at least one past-paper question for consolidation, and a clear plan for what to focus on before our next session.
