About George
I’m the lead guitarist of the London-based rock band, Ain’t. If there’s one thing I’m excited about more than playing guitar myself, it’s passing on this fantastic skill to others eager to pursue it!
I’ve been playing guitar for 20 years. After starting out with the classical guitar at age 10, I soon discovered the electric guitar and fell in love with the instrument.
As a huge fan of indie rock and alternative music growing up as a teenager, the electric guitar became the gateway that got me closer to my musical heroes: it allowed me to play along to my favourite songs and—with the versatility offered by the electric guitar through amps and pedals—capture the specific tones of the artists I loved.
Currently, I’m a working musician and have had my band and compositions featured in publications including the The Guardian, NME, Stereogum, DORK, So Young and Line of Best Fit, as well as broadcast by DJs including Steve Lamacq (BBC 6 Music), Cheryl Waters (KEXP), and John Kennedy (Radio X).
I’ve had the privilege of playing many iconic venues including Scala, The Dome, The Garage, MOTH Club, Electric Ballroom, 100 Club, and The Windmill to name a handful. Following the release of an EP and five singles, I’m working on my bands debut album.

I teach beginners the rudiments of electric guitar covering technique, theory, and practical skills. In my lessons we'll run through a mixture of hands-on activities including learning key aspects of music theory, learning songs using tablature, improvisation, and composition.
As mentioned above, each lesson will touch on three key aspects of guitar playing: technique, theory, and practical skills.
Technique: Play your guitar the right way the first time. Throughout our lessons, we’ll go over the best ways to play your instrument - whether this is holding the plectrum correctly, alternate picking, or perhaps a technique you need to hone to play your favourite song. We’ll make sure you’re comfortable playing your guitar and that you are set up for the future with good playing habits.
Theory: Ever wondered why a riff or chord progression sounds great or seems to just ‘make sense’? Demystify the hows and whys of what makes something sound great on guitar. We’ll cover music theory in an approachable and comprehensible way to ensure that you not only know how to make the what you’re playing sound good, but understand why it does as well. We’ll cover topics such as scales, chords, and reading tabs.
Practical: We’ll cover practical guitar playing like improvisation, composition, and learning songs from your favourite artists. We’ll learn how to write your own songs, how to improvise, and much more.
Grades: for those interested in pursuing grades (such as those provided by Trinity Rock & Pop), I can support students up to grade 5.
However, I do take a flexible approach to lessons and adapt them according to your needs and interests. So whether you're looking to learn for an academic ambition, hone guitar skills for your own music project, or just learn to play your favourite songs on guitar, I'm keen to see how I can help you reach your goals.

George is a world-class guitarist, and his teaching is unlike anyone else's - he offers a personalized and caring experience that is attentive to your progress and targets areas for development that nobody else would think of. I played guitar for 15 years but always struggled with songwriting, and together we developed a tailored course of lessons based on what I wanted and needed to learn, not the standard curriculum. With George, you will learn to understand the guitar as YOUR musical instrument - not just mastering technical skills, but inspiring you to use them creatively. If you want a teacher who can make you a better player, there are many to choose from - but if you want someone who also teaches how to be a musician, George is one of the few.
