About Amitai
I've been an actor, a director, a playwright, a fiction author, a poet, and a teacher; I spent time working for the Center For Media Literacy; I have a Masters in Rabbinic Literature, and also rabbinic ordination (equivalent to a Doctorate in Divinity). I'm a natural speed reader, and have been a voracious reader and lover of the English language since childhood. My purpose in life is to help people-- especially young people-- develop and embrace their skills in and appreciation of literature, history, and human cultures and thought.

I emphasize depth and context, for best comprehension, as well as aesthetic awareness of literature and/or appreciation of culture and society in history. All subjects intertwine to one degree or another, and I use source and secondary texts as foundations for discussion, reading aloud as an aid to appreciation/comprehension, and following "tangential" questions to help high school, college, or middle school students understand the material, and make connections to other areas of learning. I have extremely broad and deep knowledge, experience with many different kinds of students from varying backgrounds, and I have ADHD, so I have some experience and understanding of neurodiverse students.
