My experiences come from extensive participation in school leadership roles throughout STEM based opportunities, including hosting study sessions for my cohort on a weekly basis. I like to teach students based on consistent efforts to understand their relevant academic goals, values and needs throughout the tutoring session. Sessions last for about an hour for current Queensland students’ year 7-11 looking to develop high level strategies and successful academic skills in STEM based subjects when entering the QCE system. Advice and feedback associating with developing these skills to suit each student's academic goals will be linked in high relevance to creating a high ATAR during year 12 in the QCAA system.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in maths and science really strengthened during Year 10 and 11, when I began achieving strong results and taking on leadership roles such as Maths & Science Captain. As more classmates asked me for help before assessments, I found that I genuinely enjoyed breaking down complex topics and seeing others gain confidence. That naturally developed into private tutoring, where I could support students more consistently and effectively.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subjects you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I tutor Specialist Maths, Mathematical Methods, Chemistry, Physics, and Economics, mainly for QCAA senior students.
I especially enjoy helping students understand the logical structure in topics like calculus in Methods, matrices and vectors in Specialist, waves and motion in Physics, chemical patterns in Chemistry, and market dynamics in Economics.
Topics I enjoy less tend to be the ones that involve repetitive memorisation, but I still focus on making them clear, logical, and easier to retain.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes. My Year 10 and 11 Mathematical Methods teacher had a huge influence on my learning. Their clarity, patience, and passion for teaching made maths feel intuitive and achievable. They inspired both my love for the subject and the way I tutor—prioritising clear explanations, step-by-step reasoning, and supportive learning.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    A good tutor should have:

Patience, so students never feel rushed or judged

Clarity, especially when explaining abstract concepts

Adaptability, adjusting explanations to suit each student

Empathy, understanding the frustrations that come with learning

    Consistency, offering reliable, ongoing support

Enthusiasm, making even difficult topics feel empowering

These are qualities I work to bring into every tutoring session.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Before a Methods exam, a classmate once told me, “You explain things better than most teachers.” That comment stuck with me because it made me realise that I didn’t just enjoy maths—I had a real ability to teach it. It was one of the moments that encouraged me to start tutoring and eventually become Maths & Science Captain.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

One of the biggest challenges I faced was in Chemistry, especially with multi-step questions that required detailed reasoning, multiple conversions, and a clear understanding of each stage. I often understood individual concepts, but putting them together in long, structured problems felt overwhelming.
Having gone through that struggle myself, I’m able to empathise with students who find multi-step or “heavy working” questions difficult, and I focus on teaching strategies to break them down into clear, manageable parts.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion lies in supporting students and helping them build real confidence in maths and science. As the Maths & Science Captain, I’ve learned how rewarding it is to guide peers, answer questions, and make challenging concepts feel accessible. Teaching isn’t just about the subject for me—it’s about helping students realise what they’re capable of.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

I believe what makes me a Superprof is the combination of my academic strengths, leadership experience, and genuine dedication to student growth. I tailor every lesson to the individual, focus on deep conceptual understanding, and break complex problems into simple, logical steps. My goal isn’t just for students to pass—it’s for them to understand, think clearly, and feel confident in themselves.
