Im Seb, 18 years old, Ill help however I can, including doing research out of hours. I have a great genuine interest for Art, Photography, Economics, History and Geography and these sessions would most likely enjoy the sessions as much as i hope my clients will.
Tutoring for everyone is very different, therefore I will intend on having a very individualised style for each individual client.
Having struggled in holding interest when I was younger, I have had much personal experience with personal tutors - an have found that just because someone is incredible at a subject, if they cant explain it without it being horribly boring - they won't be good at sharing their knowledge.
The first session I will go through what we'll be studying, why and what is wanted out of the process, we may go through some work set from school to see where they are at - and I will heavily encourage questions, of which they may have been embarrassed to ask in front of a whole class; as it is too often people get stuck not understanding something major in a course because the simplest of things was not explained well enough for them at the beginning.
I have volunteered at a primary school, as an assistant teacher in year 3 and 4 classes
I really enjoyed how rewarding working in education can be.
While I have not been a tutor to anyone - I have had more than my fair share of personal tutors attempt to help me. Therefore I hopefully will be able to amalgamate their successes and ensure I don't fall into the classic mistake of listing off information at someone.
To really teach someone, the subject needs to be simplified in their mind, as well as have some degree of interest
I was born in England, however moved to Bermuda at age 3; having grown up in such an incredible place, I believe has given me a optimistic, positive, energetic, and fairly relaxed personality.
Schooling in Bermuda was good, however I needed many personal tutors to help me keep up in class, as despite trying my hardest, I could not concentrate on my teachers who bored me. It was the tutors who got me through my tests to attend a boarding school.
I went to boarding school in Dorset from age 13 to 18, where work was hard, and I was able to relish in the great teaching on offer - having teachers genuinely interested in their subjects truly made me share this interest and succeed much more than I had. I had to work very hard and this enabled me to learn the important lesson of time management and relatively independent learning.
