About Aayan
I’m a Year 13 student studying Maths, Physics and Further Maths, predicted A*s. I’ve always enjoyed understanding how and why things work, particularly in Maths and Physics, and I try to bring that same curiosity into the way I learn and teach.
Having recently completed my own GCSEs, I remember what it’s like to encounter these subjects at this stage. Some topics can suddenly seem much more difficult than expected, and knowing how to revise effectively or approach an unfamiliar question isn’t always obvious. Since then, I’ve progressed through sixth form and gone through the preparation involved in applying to study Physics at excellent universities. This has given me experience of the academic stages that many of my students will soon approach, from choosing A-levels to exploring subjects beyond the curriculum through super-curricular activities.
What I particularly enjoy about tutoring is getting to know how each student thinks and learns. I like helping students identify the areas they naturally enjoy and the areas they find more difficult, then working together to overcome those obstacles. At the same time, I want to help them refine their interests by exploring the ideas they find most engaging, whether that’s through learning new concepts or tackling interesting problems.
I want students to feel that tutoring is something we do together, rather than simply being told what to do. I enjoy working through confusion with students, helping them make connections between ideas and gradually becoming more independent in their problem-solving.
Ultimately, I want to pass on both the understanding and approaches that have helped me throughout my own education, while helping students become more confident, curious and capable learners.

My one-hour lessons are personalised, adaptable and interactive, focusing on genuine understanding, problem-solving and exam performance. We’ll identify your strengths and weaker areas across topics, question types and exam technique, then tailor our lessons and independent work to address them. Whether you need help with a specific question, a difficult topic or want to extend your existing strengths, the lesson adapts to your individual needs.
We’ll work collaboratively through concepts and problems rather than simply following a fixed lesson plan. I use Socratic questioning to encourage you to articulate your reasoning, make connections and challenge assumptions, developing critical-thinking habits, intellectual independence and long-term retention.
For each topic, we’ll begin with a brief overview before retrieving the core principles that underpin it. New ideas will be connected to and developed from prior knowledge wherever possible, helping you understand how concepts fit together rather than simply memorising isolated methods.
We’ll then apply these ideas through interactive problem-solving, tackling challenging but accessible questions and addressing individual difficulties as they arise. This allows us to identify misconceptions, strengthen your reasoning and progress naturally through the material. Where appropriate, I’ll also provide enrichment to explore areas of particular interest and develop deeper mathematical or physical intuition.
I’ll support your independent revision using approaches such as active recall, spaced practice, interleaving, exam-question practice and error analysis, selecting strategies according to what is most useful for you.
Progress is evaluated continuously through conceptual questioning, problem-solving, accuracy, recurring errors, confidence and timed exam-style work. Previously difficult material is revisited to assess retention and independent application, allowing future lessons and work to adapt to your progress.
The aim is not simply higher marks, but deep understanding, effective learning habits, intellectual independence and confidence when confronting unfamiliar problems.

I have known Aayan for several years as a competitive Olympiad preparation partner. I can confirm that he has immense conceptual depth and is a high achiever. However, he is not entirely results-driven; instead, he prioritises the acquisition of knowledge and the development of elegant problem-solving skills. Throughout my time with him, I have been exposed to great resources that I now include in my personal statement, giving me an edge when competing for a place at Cambridge to study Maths.
Aayan would be the type of tutor who is always present to offer his two cents on any sort of guidance. I admire his Socratic approach to understanding concepts. This is a subtle yet impressive skill, as replicating it might result in you coming across as too intimidating or simply failing to tailor questions that would help the student uncover gaps in their understanding of a topic.
My past experience with him in Year 11 solidifies my trust in him as a good tutor, as Aayan has excellent project-management skills. Not only did Aayan perform well in his GCSEs, but he was also able to undertake multiple super-curricular activities and prepare for his current boarding school, where he has continued to flourish.
All of this is clear evidence that he is not only a savant in STEM with the necessary knowledge and technical skills, but also someone who has what it takes to become a good tutor and provide students with a programme through which he can nurture them into becoming people who are not simply chasing good grades, but who are also worthy of achieving greatness.
