About Charmine
Music lives in the ear and that is how I teach it to my 100 students. After earning a BFA Music Performance from East Tennessee State University I spent 13 years performing bluegrass and old-time music across the South.
My teaching practice welcomes absolute beginners, high-level performance-focused students, and busy working professionals who crave a deeper connection to their instrument. I center my approach on these traditions because the fiddle speaks a language learned through listening. Growing up in this musical culture shaped who I am today. I still cherish the quiet moments when a student finally captures the rhythm of a tune.

Oral tradition is the heartbeat of my instruction. I rely on 11 years of experience to guide students through the nuances of tone production, scale mastery, and ear training without needing a single sheet of paper.
Performance-focused students and beginners alike find that my BFA training from East Tennessee State University allows for a unique synthesis of formal technique and traditional soul. We address orchestral playing and arpeggios through a lens of melodic retention that strengthens your natural ability to hear music. I provide a monthly progress report shared with parents to keep everyone aligned on your development.
You will walk away with a richer understanding of how to make the violin sing. Mastery of the instrument is found in the connection between your ears and your hands.
