About Thad
Violin bows meeting strings for the first time creates a sound I still find magical. Years ago, I began internalizing the Russian tradition while studying at Rice University. I currently focus on coaching college students and professionals who play music strictly for their own enjoyment.
Building solid technique is a slow and steady process that requires a calm environment. My 13 years of teaching show me that steady habits create the best results for adult learners.
You can expect a patient partner in your practice as we work on ABRSM or Trinity exam prep and classical repertoire. Scales, arpeggios, and ear training are always part of our discussion. I hope to help you find joy in your playing today.

Reaching your technical goals usually happens in tiny, invisible increments that you might not notice at first. Sometimes I admit that I get just as excited as you do when a difficult spiccato passage finally clicks.
These lessons integrate theory, tone production, and bowing precision into a balanced routine. Weekly practice modules are assigned with every class to ensure your progress remains steady between our meetings.
I rely on my formal training from Rice University to keep our work grounded in tradition. Since I specialize in amateur violinists, I maintain an 8.0 standard for all technical exercises we attempt. My goal is to see you feel confident and comfortable with your instrument by the end of the term. It remains a genuine privilege to guide you through these musical challenges.
