Methodology

I was signed off to teach since January 2018 and over the past 19 months I have gained an abundance of experience in teaching Yoga and Pilate’s classes. I am full of energy and love to motivate others whether it be in yoga or other aspects of their lives such as exercise and nutrition. I love health and fitness and training at the gym is also a huge part of my life. I aim to be a lifelong student continuously working on my CPD and teaching qualifications so for me this is just the first step, in future planning my goal is to gain further Yoga and Pilate’s qualifications and to specialise in these areas with the aim to teach and pass on my understanding to others.

Personal profile/ statement-

I am currently seeking local opportunities to teach yoga, I have been practicing yoga for around 10 years now and graduated in March from the Feel Now Yoga 360 hour Yoga Teacher Training course, which was a very in-depth and intensive course covering all aspects of yoga, anatomy, physiology, philosophy, teaching and business skills.

I was signed off to teach since January 2018 and over the past 19 months I have gained an abundance of experience in teaching Yoga and Pilate’s classes. Teaching experience

Yoga for You Preston
01.02.2018- Present

Set up my own business to teach yoga independently, have been teaching at Plungington Community Centre 2 evenings per week, both one hour long classes. The classes began as gentle and soothing yoga for beginners but since I have acquired a regular following of students the class has developed a lot over the past 17 months. We practice a range of meditations, breathing exercises, joint mobility movements, asana sequences, sun and moon salutations, evolutionary and primal movement patterns, functional movements, core strengthening exercises, seated, laying and standing postures and balances. I now teach structured 8 week courses 3 times per year at the community centre too.

01.06.2018- Present

During the summer months I teach a weekly one hour mat based yoga to community members aged 55+, the class is very slow and gentle, mainly focusing on breathing, meditation/ relaxation, balance and stability exercises, joint mobility and functional movement practice.

DW Fitness Preston
01.05.2018- Present

I teach a regular afternoon class weekly for one hour and mainly focus on flow yoga, practicing sequences such as sun and moon salutations and do some beginner and intermediate balances, I always ensure my yoga teaching is adaptable and inclusive for all and the groups I teach have very mixed abilities.

Recently started a new job at a small gym teaching yoga once a week on a Monday evening, the class size is around 12 each week with regular students attending. I teach a wide range of relaxation, meditation, breathing, balance and asana posture practice.

Chakra Wellbeing Studio

Scheduled in to teach an 8 week Yoga & Philosophy course that I designed over the past few month, the course is very structured and focuses on many aspects of yoga philosophy.

In addition to the above works experience I also run regular workshops at gyms and studios around Preston. I have done around 3 already and have 3 more scheduled for this year.

Supply/ cover works experience

I am currently employed as a cover teacher for Yoga and Pilates classes at the following venues ad teach regular classes there when I am not working at the university, the=is has helped me gain a huge amount of teaching experience-

• UCLAN- Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre- teaching Yoga, Yolates and Pilates for staff and students

• Heartbeat- teaching Yoga and Pilates for individuals recovering/ in rehabilitation from strokes and heart attacks

• Total Fitness Preston- teaching Yoga and Pilates classes to small studio groups

360 Hour Yoga Teaching Diploma- Feel Now Yoga- Independent Yoga Network (registered teacher training school)- Reps certified
First Aid- QA Level 3 award in Emergency First Aid a Work (RQF) awarded by Blackburn Collage on 4th December 2017 (valid for 3 years)
Level 2 Gym Instructor- currently studying for a Certificate with Diverse Online Training (about 2 3rds of the way through the coursework and assessments)

Additional Information

Before studying to be a yoga teacher my background is in science, I hold a First Class Honours Degree in Forensic (Applied) Science, and have had a wide range of job roles working for the NHS, nutritional analysis laboratories, customer service and retail facing roles, if you would like a copy of my full job history and qualifications they can be provided upon request.
