About Normand
Fourteen years of teaching violin has taught me that the smallest technical adjustments generate the most significant musical breakthroughs. I maintain a private studio in Seattle after performing with the New York Philharmonic, and I have worked with hundreds of pupils ranging from 4-year-old beginners to those targeting college auditions. My Bachelor of Music in Violin from The Juilliard School informs every instruction I provide to my students.
Discipline and precision define my approach to the instrument. Advanced techniques such as spiccato and staccato bowing require consistent practice and patience. I have supported countless individuals through the rigorous demands of the RCM syllabus including the ARCT levels.

Technical accuracy serves as the foundation for artistic expression. Sight reading improves focus.
My method incorporates posture and hold corrections alongside classical repertoire study and ear training. Since graduating from The Juilliard School, I have refined these pedagogical techniques to ensure 6.0 progress standards are met consistently.
Music theory integrated with grade exam prep helps pupils understand the structure of their pieces. Parents receive a detailed monthly progress report to ensure everyone remains informed about current milestones.
Tone production remains a primary focus during our time together. We prioritize consistent improvement throughout each week. Students often find that mastering difficult etudes provides the most genuine sense of accomplishment.
