About Sybil
Music lives in the rhythm of a kitchen floor during a Cape Breton pickin party where melodies pass from older players to the young. I earned my BA American Roots Music to formalize those lessons learned by ear over my 13 years of playing. My teaching covers scales and arpeggios alongside tone production and left hand agility.
Posture and hold matter just as much as spiccato and staccato bowing when finding your sound. I have worked with many students to refine these technical foundations.

Pacing begins with the natural cadence of a tune rather than a forced schedule. A student might struggle with a shift during a session, so we slow down until the phrasing feels like breathing.
I provide 6.0 custom scale and etude sheets for each student to guide their practice at home. These 10 lessons draw on my background to ensure you understand the fiddle from the inside out. My 13 years of experience means I know exactly how to help you find that honest tone. The Piedmont blues calls to me, but I am happy to help you find your own path.
