About Karen
I enjoy sharing knowledge, because learning new things opens our minds and connects us to one another. Having lived where English was not the primary language, I understand many of the challenges that are faced when learning another language, and the difference between reading something on a page, and being able to speak with confidence understand conversation and be understood as well. This confidence and understanding is what I hope to help my students obtain.

There is a difference between being able to read and write some English, and becoming proficient enough to have a conversation, follow multiple speakers and comprehend English conversation, local idioms and more. While the difficulties with English spelling, grammar and meaning are important, they are only a small part in being able to actually interact with others in English, be understood and understand them! I like to ensure my students not only develop a command of English as a second language, but are comfortable in real life, practical situations.
