About Ethan
Hi! My name is Ethan. I'm 23 and have now been playing the piano for 10+ years. I’ve achieved Grades 1-8 in Piano and Grade 5 in music theory (all ABRSM).
My favourite style to play is classical music, purely because you can lost in the emotion of it. Chopin and Beethoven are some obvious favourites of mine and I also love the simplicity and beauty of Ludovico Einaudi. However, I also love playing jazz and blues.
Teaching piano is something that I've been wanting to get started for a while now. I would love to help you to share in the joy that comes from playing the piano, no matter your age or ability!

I have some experience in teaching piano with friends and have really enjoyed it. Whilst I'm not the most experienced teacher on this site, I have a clear plan when it comes to helping you get started on the piano. We get to go through the book that I learned in which is quite nice as it's full circle for me. Each week, we'll consolidate what you've been working on, examine any areas that need attention and by the end of the lesson, have a clear plan of action for the following week.
Beginner lessons will focus on learning to read sheet music and getting used to playing with either hand and then putting them together! As you progress, we’ll also look at the different ways the piano can be played (through dynamics, tempo, articulation etc.) Once you’ve learned the basics and are comfortable, this is when you can take the lessons wherever you like. Whether it’s pop songs or classical music, we can play whatever music suits you!
Preparing for exams is optional but if it’s something you’d like to do, then I am more than happy to support this and prepare you for the practical and theory exams. If you choose not to enter for exams, we may still look at some pieces on the repertoire as these represent a variety of different genres of music and will be good milestones to achieve on your journey.
