I'm Tim, a recent economics graduate. I tutor GCSE maths, and have experience teaching as young as year 9 students. I am a relaxed, easy going and approachable guy.
I believe that my personality means I am able to relate to the GCSE students, perhaps in a way other tutors cannot. I have had many satisfied parents comment that I am the first tutor who has been able to get through to their child.
I endeavour to create a fun, relaxed environment, as I know that is where students are most receptive. I centre my work around what the student is doing in class, keeping them up to speed with that, this helps their confidence which is a huge factor with many. I also do a lot of work on exam technique, this is missing from a LOT of maths lessons in schools.
I have been tutoring for the last 4 years, and have a year and a half of experience working in schools. Over that duration, I have had every student I taught achieve at a minimum the grade they wanted, often a grade or two higher. A high proportion of my work is from recommendations from one parent to another who is looking for tuition, which shows how successful my approach is.
I have experience teaching from C-D grade to A* students (5-6 and 8-9 on the new specification).
