About ABDIRAHMAN
To me, mathematics and statistics are not mere collections of formulas or abstract theorems. They are a form of concise, powerful language and one that cuts through the noise of long articles and articulated treatises to reveal the hidden structures of our social and economic world.
My professional aspiration is to serve as a principal statistician and social researcher, resolving what I call “social ineptitudes towards the statistical sciences.”
But alongside that research career, I feel a deep, growing calling to teach. I want to stand in the gap between fear and fluency, showing students that numbers are not obstacles but allies.
My future potential as a tutor stems from a rare combination: rigorous technical wrestling with real-world data, and a genuine, almost missionary love for the clarity that statistics provides. In my work as a data analyst, I have not only applied classical linear models, time series analysis, and stochastic processes - I have struggled. I have faced datasets where observations defied every frequently used distribution, and high-dimensional puzzles with hundreds of variables. These struggles taught me patience, creativity, and humility. They also taught me that confusion is not failure; it is the beginning of understanding. That is the insight I will bring to every student I teach.
I want to teach because I remember what it is like to feel alienated by mathematics. Many students, particularly in the social sciences, view statistics as a necessary evil or a hurdle to clear. I want to transform that perception. I will show them that a well-chosen model can speak truth about poverty, education, or public health more elegantly than pages of prose.
