About Beryl
I have been a teacher/tutor for many years. I enjoy helping young people and believe that a good basic education is their right. I believe that a teacher/tutor's duty is to help the student fully understand what they are studying and are able to apply what they have studied in their lessons and in life. I like to help my students establish a purpose for learning. Why are they learning maths, grammar, etc? I then make sure that all keywords are defined and that every step of the topic is thoroughly learned before they proceed with the next one. I also try to keep the lesson lively and interesting for the student and applicable to him and his life. I make sure that my students finish each lesson having learned something new or have gained a new skill.

I have been a teacher/tutor for 20 years, mostly at primary level and have taught English and Maths, Science, Geography, and History to 7-11-year-olds. I have taught years 5 and six for 10 years with excellent results. The students in my class engaged well with their subjects, and enjoyed learning. My approach is an individual one and I make sure that everyone I teach understands what they are learning and is able to apply it to their lessons and in life. I also take a gradient approach, going carefully, step by step, making sure that the student has fully mastered a step before going on to the next one. I try to make the lessons alive and interesting. I have taught kids that range from the very clever to the academically challenged and have helped all of them to learn well and be happy learning. As a tutor, my lessons are usually an hour long. I am now tutoring primary students.
