I am fun and bubbly and aim to give people a positive learning experience. I like to loosely structure my sessions around the client in order to help them achieve their full potential. I like to use methods that centre around doing rather than reading or writing.
I am currently a Psychology student at the University of Plymouth but I have been tutoring for several years. I have taught GCSE maths and english as well as Psychology and recently criminology. I have helped many students to go up 2 or more grades in their studies.

As a bubbly, enthusiastic Psychology student currently in Plymouth I am looking for a placement opportunity in a forensic setting. I love the idea of gaining a deeper understanding of how different people think and the motivations behind behaviour. I am also inquisitive about rehabilitation and finding ways to improve our current crime crisis.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Customer Service Assistant | Costa Coffee Apr 2018 to Sep 2019
Costa Coffee is a widely known and loved coffee chain within the UK.
In this role I was responsible for working alongside a team to help serve customers their coffee and food. This involved me using people skills to ensure the customer was met with a level of professionalism and left having had a satisfying experience. I also had to use my teamwork skills in order to work collaboratively and efficiently and get tasks done in a limited time frame. This role allowed me to further expand my organisational skills as the workspace was small, meaning everything needed to be in an accessible place for everyone. On several occasions I had to practice my ability to stay calm and communicate effectively when a customer was angry, which had helped me in dealing with highly emotive atmospheres.

Volunteer Work | Ukraine Summer Camp
Jul 2017 to Jul 2017
This was an organisation that ran summer camps for children in order for them to improve their english skills. It ran for 6 weeks over the summer and the children varied in age from 5-16.
In this role I was given a small group of 8 boys with whom I was charged with looking after for the duration of my two-week stay. These boys were only 6-7 years old and so knew very little of the English language. One of the biggest skills this taught me was overcoming barriers in communication. During the time I was there, though there was a routine, everything changed on a daily basis. One day we would be doing arts and crafts and the next we would be on the river learning how to kayak. This helped me to embrace change and become much more flexible as a person. This was also the longest period that I had ever been away from my family before, and this therefore fostered emotional resilience in me when I became homesick. Additionally, as I was a leader in charge of my group, my skills in independence grew and I was able to use my initiative to work independently as well as part of a team.
Teaching Assistant | Herons Moor Primary School Jun 2016 to Jul 2016
This is a primary school based in Weston Super Mare, focusing on giving the best education possible to those aged 4-11 years. This academy is rated as a good school by Ofsted.
This was a short term work experience placement that I undertook whilst at Secondary School. During this time I worked closely with the Year 6 class on their production of the Wizard of Oz as their end of year play. I also helped in the classroom by assisting with reading, writing, spelling and mathematical skills and assisted some of them with art projects. Additionally, I undertook several admin tasks for the teacher. As they were younger children, I had to adapt my communication style in order to work with them effectively. In this role I also learnt a lot about myself in terms of being able to plan and prioritise my workload.
KEY SKILLS
I am able to work effectively as part of a team which is demonstrated through not only my work but through volunteering opportunities that I have had. For example, I was head of the Weston Super Mare youth council for 4 years and through working collaboratively we were able to make changes for the children in the town such as raising money for young carers or providing the local park with new equipment.
I am also able to communicate effectively both through writing and speaking. An example of this comes from when I was course representative last year and had to relay feedback from the students to the staff members and head of school.
I am a very organised person, I have never handed an assignment in late and I have effective strategies and stages of planning, writing and reviewing assignments to ensure they are of the highest level of achievement.
Leading on from organisation, this allows me to plan and prioritise my workload via urgency and importance. The most urgent and important tasks are done first.
Whilst I am perfectly capable of taking direction from members of staff and superiors, I am also capable of taking initiative and working independently to achieve tasks.
INTERESTS
Outside of my studies, I love to ice skate. This sport has taught me patience, determination and courage and the importance of taking care of my body. I am also part of my University’s Gospel Choir and love to sing to spread love to everyone around me. In any free time, I have I love reading and baking, both therapeutic pastimes that have taught me how to relax.
