I help students achieve their goals by focusing on practice. It's the way I achieved my goals and it's the way I'm currently learning at University. On my first day at St Andrews my lecturer said to us “You cannot become a marathon runner by watching marathons on TV”, and it's this the mentality that I encourage my students to adopt.
Hello! My name's Martin and I am a 3rd year student at the University of St Andrews studying Maths and Physics.
I have 4 years' experience. I started tutoring in my 5th year of high school, when teachers asked me to meet 1 to 1 on a weekly basis with pupils who were struggling. I found the whole process very rewarding and the year after I decided to become a freelance Maths tutor, advertising through business cards.
Here is a reference from a previous client, Nikki, who needed National 5 Maths in order to start her postgraduate studies : "Martin was a great tutor from day one. Very patient, friendly and understanding, and always put me at ease. He genuinely cares about his students doing well and makes sure he prepares the appropriate resources each week to meet your needs. I wouldn’t have achieved my goals without him and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking."

I have been Martin’s flatmate for a year and have enjoyed all of the time that I have spent with him. He is very hardworking and dedicated, as well as confident and friendly. Martin has incredible expertise in his field and would help any student gain valuable knowledge of Mathematics.
I would highly recommend Martin as a tutor. His vast and varied knowledge in maths and physics allows students to gain a greater understanding. He’s friendly and approachable so you can ask any questions or problems!
Having known Martin in both a professional and social capacity I can vouch for martins great personality. He is friendly and well mannered and has a wide range of interests which make him a very interesting boy. It is clear through talking to Martin he has a deep passion for maths and physics and obviously knows what he’s talking about! Martin is great with Individuals of all ages having worked with kids at a summer camp as well as having had customer facing jobs in the past. His deep knowledge and passion for the subject, coupled with his friendly demeanour leave me with no hesitation in saying that Martin would be a great tutor!
