About Umar
I’m currently a fifth-year medical student, but Maths has always been one of the subjects I’ve enjoyed most. Even though I’ve gone down the Medicine route, tutoring has been a nice way for me to stay connected to Maths and help others with a subject I genuinely like.
One of the main reasons I enjoy teaching is seeing students become more confident. Maths can feel frustrating when a topic does not click straight away, but often it just needs to be explained in a clearer, more step-by-step way. I try to make lessons feel approachable, so students feel comfortable asking questions and working through mistakes.
Outside of studying, I’m really into sport, especially tennis and football. I think that side of me comes through in my teaching too. I value patience, consistency and gradual improvement rather than expecting everything to be perfect immediately.

Hi, I'm Umar, an experienced Maths tutor with over 200 hours of tutoring experience. I offer in person and online (1:1 and group) Maths lessons for KS3, GCSE and iGCSE, AS and A2 students.
I achieved 10A*s at GCSE, completed Maths one year early, and went on to achieve As at A-level, including full UMS in Maths. I now study Medicine, and I bring a structured, exam-focused approach to every lesson.
My lessons are built around clear explanations, handmade notes, targeted question practice, and exam-style problem solving. After each lesson, I provide students with a complimentary notes document covering what we studied, so they have something clear to revise from afterwards.
I focus on helping students understand the method, avoid common mistakes, improve confidence, and build strong exam technique.
