About Chengjia
I have great passion in teaching music theory as I find it a logical part in the music subject. It explains why a piece sound the way it sounds and helps you to create your own music the way how you want it to sound. It is fascinating to learn that there are strict rules regarding the composition of music (four-part harmony) but also you can insert your own imagination.

I completed VCE music 34 in year 11 and obtained a raw score of 41. I teach all age groups and levels up to grade 8 theory, from basic scales and intervals to VCE music and advanced harmony and counterpoint, particularly 17th and 18th century four-part harmony. A typical lesson length is one hour, however longer lessons can be arranged. My teaching methodology focuses greatly on the aural aspect and training the students to learn a movable 'do' if without perfect pitch. This makes harmonic dictation/imitation a lot easier. I also teach the analysis part of the VCE music paper. Lesson rates from $40, based on theory levels.
