I have just completed my A-Levels, achieving A grades in Maths, Chemistry and Economics. I am starting University in September.
Lesson structures will be as follows: I will provide theory advice where needed and provide questions to do for the student in their own time. I like to reinforce the idea that in maths especially you have to pracicte a lot of questions in order to improve. However, just doing questions is not enough. We will review questions that the student has had trouble with in order to improve. You will find that question structures are very repetitive and so by "ticking off" different questions, you give yourself the best preparation for exams.
So far, I have only taught one student at GCSE level for Maths and Chemistry. Thanks, in part, to my help they went from a D in both to achieving a C grade in both. This over just 2 lessons.
First lesson free.
Travel rates will be dependent on distance. Rates will be 20% more for AS Level and 10% cheaper for sub GCSE level.
From a young age, I have demonstrated an enthusiasm for enterprise. At the age of ten, I ran a profitable second-hand shop at my primary school. As well as this, I have set up and run a small business which is based on the sale of virtual goods for online games.
Organising and spending six months on my own in Australia, playing cricket and travelling, has developed my independence, confidence and maturity.
Through previous experience as a bartender at Oxton Cricket and Sports Club, I have learnt the value and appeal of working within the service industry.
My free time revolves around my passion for sport, especially cricket and hockey. Regular training, coaching and matches, alongside school and work, has demonstrated significant commitment and organisation.
Tradesman: October 2016 – March 2017 (Time in Australia)
Company Name – Maine Design & Construction Pty Ltd
Being solely responsible for painting the entirety of a house, amongst other duties, highlighted my ability to work independently where required.
Bartender: 2014 – Summer 2016
Company Name – Oxton Cricket and Sports Club
Working as part of a team to ensure a good experience for customers. This entailed various duties such as serving customers, sorting stock and ensuring venue is clean and well presented.
Other work experience includes various work placements I have completed:
• Two weeks at Grant Thornton where I assisted with the completion of financial audits for clients.
• A week at Cammell Laird working with apprentices to build a pipe storage unit. In order to be successful, teamwork was essential as some aspects could not be done independently.
• I performed research on flood defence systems throughout my time at AECOM.
• During my stay at Investec, I shadowed investment managers. Communication with customers here is key in order to attract and retain business.
Skills and Achievements
• Independence, confidence, interpersonal and communication:
o Travelling to Australia by myself for 6 months, working and playing for a cricket club as their overseas player at the age of 18.
o Travelling to the USA with my brother to visit our uncle for two weeks.
o Peer and Academic mentor roles at Birkenhead School.
o Junior Cricket Coach for Oxton Cricket Club and Muckleford (Australia) Cricket Club.
• Determination, commitment, organisation and reliability:
o Through my achievements as a cricketer I have demonstrated these skills. I have represented Cheshire and North East Wales at junior levels, which resulted in a sports scholarship to Birkenhead School.
• Maturity and interpersonal:
o I have played for senior cricket and hockey teams since the ages of 11 and 15 respectively. Alongside my previous work experience and time in Australia, I believe these experiences demonstrate my maturity and interpersonal skills.
