About Sophie
I am a LAMDA trained actor, writer and comedian. Since graduating I have appeared in The NewsRevue, feature films and theatres across London as well as voicing audiobooks and voiceovers and doing some stand-up! But I really got into acting to create connections and tell stories. That’s why I love teaching! I’m keen to create a bespoke programme that encourages each student and stretches them. I’m happy to provide material and advice and always want to create a safe space to explore different techniques and build your confidence. 98% of actors don’t earn all their income from acting…So, I believe it’s crucial to talk about the industry and how to look after the person behind the performance, so that when that HUGE opportunity comes along you feel equipped with the techniques to perform brilliantly and have a toolkit of coping strategies for life as an actor. Before my training I studied at Durham University and have produced podcasts for Spotify, Apple and the BBC with the likes of Katie Piper and Helena Bonham-Carter so I am always happy to discuss career paths and how to make the most out of your craft. I’m very happy to look at audio scripts and voice work. I have an enhanced DBS, I’m a certified mental health first aider and have worked in youth centres in south London. I never did LAMDA exams at school and found the classroom and exams quite tricky but performing and finding experiences outside of my own allowed me to access a hidden strength and empathy that makes me passionate about acting for young people. Ultimately, I think acting is one of the most fun and important things to do. We could all do with a little more play and confidence in our lives and exploring different characters, experiences and scripts with students is a real joy!
