I am an experienced acting teacher and director teaching regularly with ALRA North, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and as an audition panel member for the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
I coach audition technique, acting and introduction to the actors voice. I work with students at all levels interested in applying for drama school as well as professionals. I can prepare students thoroughly for anything that requires them to deliver an effective performance. I use the approaches of Stanislavsky and am influenced by Michael Chekhov, Declan Donnellan and Laban.
I trained at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama on the Acting MA. I gained my BA in Performing Arts from Salford University. I have worked as an actor and director for ten years with companies and theatres across the UK including The BBC and The Lowry.
I charge £30 p/h. I am happy to travel in my local area as well as further afield though in these instances there must be a minimum 2 hour booking plus a negotiable travel surcharges.
I have a quiet, safe and comfortable space to deliver sessions. I am based in my home in Castleton, Rochdale. It is a a five minute walk from Castleton station (frequent trains from Manchester and the Northwest) alongside several bus routes. There is also free car parking available.
I am available daytime and Saturdays. (Subject to availability).
I am most experienced in working with professional actors and on drama school audition speeches with students aged 16 and up.
I will teach you the fundemental skills so you may express the best of yourself. Building your knowledge, sense of play and really unlocking your speeches. I want to work with your potential to help you give the best audition you can.
Working with professional actors in rehearsal and those applying for drama school have been the core of my work. I have directed contemporary and physical productions. I have taught Shakespeare and contemporary text, audition preparation technique and Stanislavsky. I also teach the basic approaches and skills for opening the actors voice.
I continue to work as a professional actress, voice over artist and in collaboration with several companies across the UK.

Ellie’s a brilliant teacher. As a pannelist at Central, she knows the audition process inside out. Ellie creates a working environment that is honest, open and relaxed. Because of this I felt comfortable to fail and take risks and I’m certain I would not have done so well had it not been for Ellie’s help.
Ellie knows how to push you beyond your comfort zone. Even from the few sessions I had with her, I managed to learn a lot from her approaches and analytical mindset. I'm still putting into practice a lot of the methods she taught me.
I recommend her to anyone willing to be challenged and have a willingness to grow as a performer!
Ellie has been coaching me on drama school audition monologues and just within the last year I feel like I’ve improved so so much! Ellie made me feel comfortable straight away and helped me figure out what I’d been doing right/what I could improve on. We then began work on new monologues, some of which she recommended me try. We worked to my pace and she gave me clear feedback and unique ideas, towards the end we also did a mock audition. I wouldn’t have got as far as I did, in terms of recalls and final recalls, if I didn’t have sessions with Ellie so I’m extremely grateful and will continue hopefully lessons in the future!
Working with Ellie has helped me to grow as a performer and she is very adept at taking you out of your comfort zone to explore different and new ways if tackling dialogue you never would have thought of. She is extremely patient and approachable and I look forward to continue working with her in the future.
She helped me get afew callbacks for Drama school such as at Guildhall and Central. An amazing teacher.
I have absolutely loved working with Ellie over the past 6 months preparing my monologues for Drama School auditions. She challenged me to step outside of my comfort zone and really connect to my characters, finding the truth, colour and fun in my monologues. Her methods of teaching are unique and her attention to detail enabled my work to improve vastly. Her knowledge of the auditions process and insight of drama school life was also invaluable. I can’t thank Ellie enough for her help - I don’t think I would be going to LAMDA to do a BA in Professional Acting without her!
I would highly recommend Ellie to everyone looking to improve their acting ability for dramaschool or a role or for a variety of other reasons. The sessions are great fun and her knowledge is unparalleled, she’ll make you consider things you’ve never thought of before to take you to the next level.
