Hello and welcome to my tutor page. I am Dean a UK based actor who specializes in teaching and directing between scratching that acting itch. I am here to help you in any aspect of Acting and gaining that edge for that practicle exam or audition. Everyone I have helped have their own story and therefore lessons change and develop to suit the person in question.
My name is Faye Weerasinghe and I am currently studying Acting (Musical theatre) at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I have taught young beginners before, on growing confidence, using the space and being free. I have also lectured older members on how to succeed at auditions and prepare for them perfectly.
I focus on the inner work and character analysis. If you need to preparefor a role for a performance, film, or audition, I can help you access the layers of the character and or support you with any other Acting problems you might be facing. I teach beginners too.
I base my classes depended on the clients needs and requirements. I try not to overload within knowledge however if you are the type of student that wants lots of information and knowledge, that that is catered for also.
My teaching method is practical and informal.
I offer 1-1 coaching and technique lessons for anyone wanting to go into the acting industry.
I am an approachable tutor who will work with the individual needs to each student to ensure they get the best results possible from their time with me. I structure every lesson or class to make sure every student is fulfilling the individual potential.
Amazingly diverse. I get to know you and what you need so we can work with you to achieve your goals.
My teaching space is very welcoming and safe. I’m a very down to earth person and like to teach with a sense of humour! I draw from different techniques but have been influenced by meisner and the method. All classes start with script work, and voice work. But I welcome all students to bring in material they’re passionate about! I also love to help source material.
Upon choosing an exam that is both challenging and achievable, we will work through the syllabus step by step. I am incredibly supportive and encouraging in my approach and no experience is necessary. These exams are enjoyable and allow your to grow in confidence. I will be taking on students to begin in September.
As previously mentioned, I am qualified to degree level so can adapt my lessons for any age group. I like to think of myself as laid-back and positive, and feedback from classes I've lead in the past tells me that my students enjoy my classes. I feel it's important to find the joy in Drama, as well as learning academically.
I have worked as an actor in Athens(Gr), Glasgow, Edinburgh, New York and I currently live in Leeds. My work as an acting coach includes Stage coaching, auditions, readings, monologues, script breakdown and character development. Lessons I teach: Contemporary Text – Scene study. Classic Text – Scene study.
Performing is a collaborative process; we will work together to explore a text, monologue or play, and discover the answers together. I can offer strong, helpful tuition to all aspiring performers, whether you are a beginner or very experienced.
I like to tutor students by first building up a clear and trusting bond where we can establish personal goals. From there, I like to incorporate exciting and varied lesson tools such as colour coded spider diagrams, role play activities, writing exercises and free discussion to keep my students excited about their chosen subject.
I start by getting to know the person in particular their style of work as this is key to being able to cater to their needs and through practical methods but also through research and discussion I teach the person.
My teaching method is relaxed and fun, I base my lessons about whatever area of performance you feel that you need to improve on. The lesson is for your benefit, so you can choose which skills you would like to build on.
My teaching varies depending on the student and their needs. I am trained in Stanislavski, Laban, Improvisation and clowning to a high standard but also like to apply academic and technical approaches to text and performance when necessary. I always like to experiment and try different methods that benefit the student most.
I don't believe that there is only one way to getting the results you want- Everyone is different and learns in different ways! When tutoring, I think it's important to be led by my pupil's abilities and needs, and work at a pace, and in a style, that is comfortable for them until they become confident enough to do so independently.
Acting and playing guitar are both creative and meant to be enjoyable for whoever is involved. I focus on the children enjoying this and not necessarily doing grades unless they want to and instead performing for themselves and family. I began my own lessons with guitar and I struggled to keep interest in the grade approach.
My teaching method is very open and friendly; I like to focus on idea sharing rather than a set method of 'teaching'. My intention in this is for my students to find their own ways of learning and revision that work for them, guided and supported by me and my teaching experience. I am also available to read over essays, view monologues etc with a directorial eye, and give feedback.
I use a range of approaches such as substitution and other methods that are more personal, from dramaturgs such as Uta Hagen and Meisner. I can also take relevant approaches for beginners or younger students if it should be required.
I can coach LAMDA exams, up to grade 8 in Acting and Verse and Prose, as well as other exams. I can also prepare monologues for your drama school auditions.
My teaching method is relaxed and fun, but I like to have a strong focus on the goals and aims of the student, meaning we will work hard together as a team to get them where they want to be. I believe the best way of learning is by doing, so I like to use a very collaborative process in which we are both equal and happy.
I am an experienced theatre maker and director, and regularly teach acting skills to a range a range of ages. My approach to our sessions is to maintain a relaxed environment, where we can explore different techniques and exercises, and you can develop and hone your skills - I will help you to find what works for you.
My teaching method is to asses every individual to begin with and then allow that person to explain what they want from the sessions. I then will build that individuals confidence and skills to become the best that they can be. I am a patient young acting teacher and will work with all abilities. I specialise in speech and communication skills and can even help people to prepare for interviews.
I mostly work with people who are looking to audition for drama school or other projects. I encourage you to bring your own monologue, as without knowing you before any class I can not know what your strengths are, or what material you can relate to. I also work constantly in improvisational and interactive theatre and am happy to work in this area too.
I base my classes on my previous experience. I know how hard getting into the industry is so I base my lessons on what I've learnt and what I know works. I have given several successful Drama school entrants audition workshops, and have trained students for West End and TV auctions. I also work with GCSE and A-level students with the performance and written exam modules.
