About the lesson
Every prospective student receives a free 30 minute online consultation so I can learn about your needs in order to best tailor each lesson to suit you. It is my belief that every student is different and unique in terms of life & acting experience.
I specialise in helping people get into Drama school and approach each lesson with warmth, humour & care. Making sure our work together is continually accessible, and mainly working from a practical approach (I'm not big into making you read lots of books). I particularly enjoy working on Shakespeare and include the methodologies of Stanislavski, Meisner, Uta Hagen & Michael Chekhov in my work. I can help in a range of subjects from finding monologues that are personal to you, to devising and text analysis both modern and classical. I welcome all students regardless of age & experience. Perfect! George is responsible, kind, and professional as an actor and a teacher. I had a lot of difficulties because English was not my first language, but he cared for me carefully. He continued to take care of me even after class. As an actor and an acting coach, I always recommend him who is passionate in both fields.
Perfect! George proved to be incredibly helpful in my preparation for drama school auditions. I recommend him to anyone looking for an acting coach!
Perfect! Very kind and polite.

George is an absolutely brilliant tutor who I would highly recommend! He has helped me to build up my confidence and equipped me with new skills and approaches that enable me to create believable and truthful characters. In addition to this his advice on Drama school additions prepared me for the reality of the process. George is friendly approachable and professional tutor and his sessions are always great fun!
Such an amazing and thoughtful tutor. Goes out of his way for his students as he only wants the best for them. George makes a safe space for you to perform and be vulnerable. He gives great professional and industry advice.
I couldn’t recommend enough. Even after one session my monologue was in a better place.George was an absolutely amazing teacher.
I had been struggling with my drama school auditions for a whole year, not getting anywhere past the first audition. As soon as I started using George that all changed, the monologues got easier, and I managed to get further through the audition process. Currently I’m on the waiting list for one of my top schools, which is one hell of an improvement if you ask me, all thanks to George.
George caters the experience to what he thinks u need, he is really good at bringing a honest performance out of you, and making you understand the text more (particularly Shakespeare).
George is a great guy, and a great teacher for a fair price. I would defiantly recommendGeorge is fantastic and so talented he truly brings the best out of you, I cannot speak highly enough about this gent. Brilliant teacher so informative and so down to earth. I couldn’t recommend George enough.
I had a drama school audition that needed a monologue of my choosing. I knew I wanted to choose a monologue that I was passionate about, interested in and one that I felt represented my ideas as a creative; even if that meant picking a controversial piece. I went to a couple coaches for advice on it and George was the one out of all of them who encouraged me to prepare something I was genuinely passionate about while frankly others told me to stick to the status quo. Choosing something controversial paid off since I got offered a place on the course! So I’d highly recommend George to anyone.
George helped me in my application for drama school. After the first lesson I knew his input would benefit me in feeling comfortable in the audition process. His experience in the field of drama is a huge benefit to anyone wanting to learn more about the trade.
I had only one session with George before lockdown, but before and after he went above and beyond with research and assistance to help me prepare for my drama school auditions. He had a handful of recommendations for me to look at before we had even met in person, and after the session provided me with cost-effective ways to not only research monologues, but look into different plays and theatrical styles to expand my knowledge as a performer. I highly recommend him not only as a tutor on acting, but on drama as a whole.
A brilliant tutor, made me feel comfortable in the space and allowed me to express my self and helped develop my work further than I ever thought I would by allowing me to think outside the box and question things I never would have previously, he always seemed to know what would take my acting to the next step wich is such a refreshing thing his feedback was always spot on and so easy to grasp and work with and he was always incredibly encouraging working with him was a pleasure and he also helped me gain a place at the Oxford school of drama on the foundation course I could not thank him enough, and would strongly recomend him to anyone looking to improve there ability as an actor (plus not sure how to leave a star rating but its a 5 from me)
From the moment I approached George for help with my drama school auditions he showed a very genuine interest in myself as a person and the monologues I wanted to work on.
He gave very useful advice and notes to improve my performance that were very direct and specific to me and my speeches and the notes worked!! After 4 years of auditioning I got into drama school and believe that George and his work with me was what finally got me to the next level.
Smart, genuine, professional and gifted are all words I would use to describe George.I had never acted before at all and George honestly helped me so much in such a short space of time in preparation for full time Musical Theatre training. I am going to Bird College on full scholarship in September and other schools I auditioned for came back to me to inform me I got top band marks in all my auditions - I honestly couldn’t have done it without him he really pushed me to where I needed to be and cannot thank him enough for all his help and support and giving me the confidence to excel in a completely new concept.
I’ve just completed my fifth year of auditioning for drama schools with offers from two different schools. I had multiple recalls this year, and I can say with certainty that a lot of my success this audition season was down to the work I did with George as my tutor. George clearly knows what’s what when it comes to drama schools and auditions, and, well, acting. He’s very encouraging in the rehearsal room and gives sound advice – praise when you do well, constructive criticism when you need it – a very honest approach. I brought a ridiculous number of speeches to our sessions and he helped me narrow my options down to the pieces which suited me best, despite my being very indecisive. He listened well to my own opinions about my chosen monologues as well as giving his ideas on how I could improve/what actions I could take – it was never ‘say this line exactly how I tell you to’ which I’ve heard from some tutors in the past. I found the character building and the finding-emotion exercises particularly helpful. I genuinely enjoyed having classes with George, which is super important because acting is supposed to be fun, and it really took some of the pressure off the audition process. All in all, if you’re looking for an acting tutor, I definitely recommend choosing George.
George is a fantastic tutor. I came to him last year with little acting experience. He really went above and beyond and boosted my confidence and improved my acting ability. If it wasn’t for George I don’t think I would have continued with acting. He is the best tutor you’d find if you wanted to get into drama school or freshen up on performing.
I found George through the Merseyside Academy of Drama's drama school audition service and I can honestly say that he was the biggest factor in getting me into drama school. During each one hour session, once/twice a week, we would work on a monologue from a variety of different methods to bring out the most interesting and creative ways of performing the pieces. Rather than giving me a set text he actively encouraged me to find my own pieces, based on his own recommendations, enabling me to enjoy the performances rather than fear them. His performance experience and training gave him a wide range of techniques to help me unlock the texts, ultimately winning me a place at the Oxford School of Drama.
George is a fantastic tutor who helped me choose my drama school audition monologues through introducing me to a wide range of plays and playwrights. He helped me in deciding which schools would be best for me to audition for all the while learning a range of audition techniques. He came to every session with enthusiasm and an open attitude. He made me feel at ease from the get go, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
