I have been through the adoption process and training which is also true surrounding becoming a foster carer, this is in depth and where my passion around therapeutic parenting techniques started as my adoptive child needed a ‘different’ approach due to his trauma and past challenges. I then applied this to furthering my knowledge and becoming a foster carer for my local council which I did for a few years completing more training on attachment issues, PACE, ACE’s and trauma. I then transferred my knowledge to childrens residential care for local authority young people with challenging behaviours. This included dealing with YP dealing with neglect, sexual abuse, physical abuse, CSE, CCE, gangs, drugs, self harm etc. I also am passionate about supporting YP in education in difficult circumstances and understand how best to support children who have suffered trauma to navigate getting their best from the school system. I can understand and offer help on all these subjects or just focus on one specifically. Whether you are a student or carer then please get in touch.
