About Robert
I am an A level student studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at Westcliff High School for boys. I have been tutoring for many years within school and have benched out to private tutoring for the last 8 months. I have had a total of 5 GCSE students, each with different aims and all have progressed tremendously, working at a level at least two grades higher. I can also teach further mathematics and foundation mathematics as I have recently taken on 2 students in this area, as well as AS level Mathematics and Chemistry as these are the areas I have most experience in having already performed undergraduate level experiments and having extremely in depth knowledge of trigonometry and algebra.

My teaching method revolves mainly around individual progression, with most of my experience coming with GCSE students but also now with A level students. I am very flexible with class times to meet any preferred times and I base much of my lessons around this. My techniques involve many different aspects to keep students alert and attentive throughout the session, these techniques change from person to person as some techniques work better with some students than others but there will always be a variety; these techniques include co-operative problem solving and then focussing on gradually transferring the though processes to the students to allow them to become independent and fully grasp the idea at hand. A lot of my students favour visual techniques such as those in a standard classroom rather than going through notes, this is especially good for the chemistry side as this is where a lot of the understanding will evolve from. I tend to set small bits of work after each session even if that may only be going over notes to ensure understanding so progressing is easier in the next session. I have also previously enjoyed teaching in classes where much of my focus tends to be on students being at the same level but also in some cases tailoring to specific students to allow them to thrive if they are capable of the current topics.
