About Toby
English literature is a gold mine. An ever-expanding series of tunnels through which one may pickaxe one's way, in the hope of getting lost, surrounded by shiny walls of Shakespearean wit, of Shelley's radicalism and rebelliousness, and of Christie's creativity. This mine has only been able to form through years of careful formation of the English language, and we must all strive together to explore it, to mine what precious gold is there, and to treat it as best we can!
If someone enjoys a subject, they will learn about it to the best of their abilities. I aim to show you why this mine of endless possibilities is the most enjoyable of subjects, and one most worth learning about.

There is no greater teaching tool than personal conversation. Through direct discussion, we can use our beautiful language to create answers which neither individual study at school nor classroom 'group work' allow. It works for university students, and for juniors in all careers. I wholeheartedly believe that, as it helped me at school, it can help others too!
My lessons are an hour long. The first lesson is free.
I study Law at the University of Edinburgh. With English Literature always having been my favoured subject, Law has allowed me to explore new areas of the language and the philosophy which surrounds it. New ways of analysing, new ways to use words; my approach to English language and literature is one of constant creativity and opportunity.
I have experience tutoring up to GCSE/Nat5 level.
