Brushing up on your Brontës? Scrutinising some Scott? Sometimes you need a little extra help... I have a lively tutoring style that is sure to engage and enhance any student's interest in the subject.
My passion is for bringing subjects to life for students so that instead of learning facts they are able to take the stories into their tests, ensuring a higher level of success. I take a holistic approach to my students so that I am able to help them achieve their goals by supporting their existing strengths whilst helping to hone and refine areas that challenge them.
I feel we learn best based on our interests. I always have an introductory session in which I can find out your interests, goals and aspirations. I want to be on the same page as you and be able to support you to achieve your goals. I also test your current level, discuss your learning style and formulate a learning plan that suits.
My teaching method is very simple. Each child is unique and so my method of teaching varies accordingly. I always encourage two way process where the child will always be given a chance to clear the doubts, given homeworks and conduct lots of discussion in order to understand if the child has understood properly.
I believe learning is best facilitated by engagement and discussion. Each lesson will follow a loose model: For Literature lessons: -A discussion about the primary text being studied. -A short critical reading related to the primary text. -Discussion about the critical reading, and the primary text. For Creative Writing: -A short reading about the topic (ie.
Experience of teaching 1-2-1 and groups from adult literacy up to speech writing and presentation skills for the United Nations. In a journalism career of more than 18 years I have learned all disciplines and genres. I'm engaging and confident - and can transmit the latter to the pupil.
My teaching method is entirely dependent on the student themselves. I would like to have an initial meeting to establish their learning styles and their areas of weakness and build my lessons around their needs. My goal is for each lesson to be fun and engaging, and focus specifically on areas where their work could be improved.
I believe that everybody has creativity inside of them. Creativity is deeply connected to who we are and most importantly who we can be, our vocation and our strengths. It is the source of confidence which is vital to an open mind and the success of learning.
I approach each topic by getting a grasp on what the students' particular goals are, and then tailor-making our sessions to ensure that we reach them with time to spare! I'm friendly and patient, but I also require discipline from my students. The majority of the students that I have offered tutoring to have been high-school age, but I'm absolutely open to university level tutoring, too.
I give lessons to GCSE and A Level students studying for qualifications in English Language and English Literature. I am known for my relaxed yet attentive teaching style, and I understand the importance of creating a safe and open environment with the student in order that academic success can be comfortably attained.
My name is Marianne Wilson, and I am keen to help those with their English studies! Often at school, English can seem confusing, outdated or just plain boring. Through my enthusiasm and excitement, I can ignite an interest and understanding for all forms of literature. I also have a keen eye for detail, and can use this to fix pernickety grammar and language issues.
First of all, I aim to make my students comfortable with the material and with me as tutor/teacher, ensuring they have a solid foundation we can build on to reach their goals. I work with students to identify objectives, encouraging them to aim high but stay realistic.
I am a highly qualified secondary school teacher (French & Spanish), former assistant head teacher, author & public speaker. You, the student, are the focus and your progress according to your natural learning style is what we focus on to get you the results you desire.
Hi there! I'm a law student at the University of Edinburgh offering English lessons, including English Literature, to Primary, Secondary and GCSE students. I'm an easy going person with a great passion for sharing my excellent skills and knowledge in the English Language with others.
My teaching method is to create an environment that is open and safe so that you never feel afraid to ask the same question repeatedly until you understand! I am methodical and patient and I will ensure that we go at your pace and that at each step along the way you are comfortable and following the content. I am flexible and understand that everyone is different and learns at a different pace.
My teaching methodology would revolve around you; I am open to whatever would help you best. I can offer feedback and advice on an essay you are working on, help you plan essays, give you mock-exam questions or we could just brainstorm and discuss a book you are studying.
I like to have an organised teaching structure, but if it is valuable to go off course a little then that's fine too. I think it's important to identify one's learning style and work mainly with it, i.e kinetic or auditory etc..
Hi! My name is Ieuan and I am a Higher/A Level and university level Tutor based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have always loved learning, and my skills and experience have given me a passion in helping others learn and achieve their potential.
My teaching methodology is always student centered. I believe mutual respect is key to building an effective teacher-student relationship. I like to focus on the needs of the student by having the student communicate directly with me and building rapport.
My teaching method is online and I can help you with the work you are doing currently e.g. reading essays and explaining ideas and methods that are not understood and give advice that I have used. School doesn't have to be hard and stressful and for these subjects an understanding and solid method of planning are key.
I try and cater to what my students need. So my lessons are heavily based around what will help students do well and what they are interested in as well. I find people learn better if they are actively involved in the planning process, keeping their interest piqued for longer.
I base my classes on interaction and making sure every student understands what I am trying to express. There needs a lot of reading done for literature and I expect students to have read a brief background on the topic to be discussed.
My aim is to tailor the lesson to you. If you are learning English, but you have a mathematical brain, I will modify my lesson plan to teach you formulas to write an outstanding essay. My method puts your learning style at the centre and I will work hard to plan a lesson that works for you.
I begin any teaching process by making a student feel comfortable and identifying their weaknesses and strengths, from there we can achieve their goals and (more importantly) attain the required grades. I understand that not every individual has a natural affinity for English as a subject, but I believe that every student is capable of achieving an impressive grade in English.
I am a Final Year Literature student at the University of Edinburgh with a background in Classical and Modern Literature, specialising in contemporary UK based literature studies. I prefer to take a student-led approach to my lessons, establishing in early sessions where the pupil requires the most amount of work to build the strongest foundations for learning.
I like to have quite a relaxed teaching style and build a relationsip with my students.
I think every individual learns differently, and the best approach is what works for each of us. Getting to know a student is important in helping them develop their potential, and my favorite part of the job.
- Classes Every student has a programme that is built just for them. They concentrate on getting to grips with topics that they are covering in school whilst also working on a parallel thread that is put together to fill any gaps that may exist in their core skills. * The MagiKats programme supports the Curriculum for Excellence. * More than tutor 'hot-housing' and more than learning by rote.
I am a 4th year student at Edinburgh University studying an English Literature MA, available to provide lessons for primary and secondary students including GCSE's, Highers/Advanced Highers, AS/A-levels. I believe in a collaborative approach, where the student guides our focus to the areas they want to work on, and I will adapt my approach to make sure your specific needs are met.
I hope to be able to benefit senior school students most specifically but I am also open to assisting pre honours University students. My approach to study is thematically based and I believe that from this basis, it is possible to narrow down focus to style and form, and thus come to deconstruct a text.
