About John

I'm John, a software engineer based in Seattle. I spent the last 5 years working at Amazon, where I built large-scale systems and conducted many technical interviews for software engineering candidates. I know firsthand what interviewers look for and how hiring decisions get made. I enjoy teaching and mentoring — I've helped friends and colleagues prepare for interviews, and now I tutor college students who want to break into tech. My approach is practical and encouraging: we work through real problems together, I explain the reasoning behind every solution, and I give honest, actionable feedback. I'm reliable, patient, and genuinely invested in my students' success. Let's work together to get you interview-ready.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm John. I've worked as a software engineer at Amazon for the last 5 years, and I've conducted plenty of technical interviews — I know exactly what interviewers are looking for.

I tutor college students in software engineering interview prep:

- LeetCode / data structures & algorithms — solving mediums live, talking through your approach out loud, stating time & space complexity
- System design basics — what new grads actually get asked, how to structure an answer
- Behavioral interviews — STAR stories, "tell me about yourself"
- Full timed mock interviews with written feedback — the highest-value prep there is

Sessions are 60 minutes over video call with a shared code editor. First lesson free. $15/hour after that, paid via Venmo (concealed information) before the session.

I'm based in Seattle and can work around your class schedule — especially with fall recruiting in full swing. Message me and let's get you interview-ready.
