About Danielle
During my time working with children with developmental disabilities, I loved the progression I witnessed among my nonverbal clients when introduced to new ways to express themselves, such as hand gestures, and basic ASL signs.
This experience is what motivated me to spend the next 3 years formally learning about the language, Deaf culture, and challenges that the community faces. It is through the friendships I made in sharing in this beautiful language that the depth of my knowledge and passion exists for this unique form of human connection. I would love to help open the door to this world for others as well.
I have 5+ years of experience as an instructor, with a penchant for hands-on and experiential learning. American Sign Language is a particularly dynamic topic for it not only generates visual, observational learning but also calls for the use of our facial muscles, body positioning, and articulation of our hands to convey a message; while also prompting us to reflect on how in learning this language, we are provided a window into to how the Deaf community relates to the world around them.

My aim is to create a compassionate and courageous learning environment in which it is okay to fail until we succeed. My student-centered sessions are focused on the needs and goals that the student and I will establish together. If there are no specific areas to work on, I am happy to create structure by providing ASL lesson plans up to level 3.
