About Melody
I am an award winning short filmmaker, the artistic director and curator of an international film program, and I hold a Masters of Contemporary Art from the Victorian College of Arts, Melbourne. My films have been shown at ACMI, NGV+Melbourne Design Week, galleries, festivals, and internationally.
I create short films, music videos, photographs, and art installations all from 16mm analogue moving image film.
I am the lab manager of an artist run film lab in Melbourne, with experience in:
- Hand developing colour + black and white moving image film (8mm, 16mm)
- Setting up and maintaining darkrooms
- Shooting with a Bolex camera/Canon Scoopic/ARRI
- Cutting and splicing negatives into an analogue edit
- Contact and Optical printing
- Finishing analogue films digitally
- Analogue editing/film prints
- Custom made sound
- Extracting still images for print
I can also tutor conceptual art theory and provide artistic consultation for visual arts or film based projects.

- Black and white + colour developing for 16mm or super 8 film
- Post-production processes for analogue film
- Analogue editing techniques (splicing, editing shots, preparing negs for print)
- Steenbeck editing bench processes
- Basic digital editing (Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Basic sound design (Adobe Audition)
- Projection techniques, analogue and digital (Adobe After Effects or analogue methods with a 16mm projector)
- Art theory for conceptual development
