My teaching method revolves around the use of past paper questions and letting the children attempt to work out the answer themselves allowing them to develop their critical thinking skills whilst mimicking real exam conditions, taking the pressure off the real thing.
I am a chemistry student looking to reinforce my understanding of my chosen subject through the aid of local students in the area who need help with their GCSE study. I am enthusiastic to begin tutoring and have a keen interest in the learning process. I aspire to GCSE with Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology and HIstory, having achieved A* grade in all these subjects myself,

Experience
Former House Captain at Glyn School, which allowed me to organize team and house events, as well as charity events for the school in partnership with other house captains. This allowed me to develop skills in organization, leadership and teamwork. Completed Bronze Duke of Edinburgh which involved me organizing and finding my own charity placement at the Princess Alice Hospice, where I volunteered for six months. This gave me experience in retail and gave me the opportunity to serve and interact with a variety of customers, improving my communication skills and giving me first-hand retail experience. To complete the award I also had to complete three months of cooking and completing a recipe book of the dishes I made, and three months of swimming at the rainbow leisure centre. The award revolved around the completion of a 2 day 1-night hike which consisted of working as a team to navigate ourselves from point A to point B and being responsible for cooking and preparing our own meals. Had a paper round for a year. Have also worked as a sales assistant at WHSmith since March of 2015. This has provided with invaluable experience and a true insight into the world of retail. It also allowed me the opportunity to refine and develop my retail and customer service skills.
I have also worked at Greggs as a weekend team member for 8 months, which again allowed me to demonstrate and develop my retail skills in a new and challenging environment.
During my first year of university, I began employment at Savers alongside my studies, while still maintaining a first for the year, allowing me to truly understand and grasp the work-study balance.
WHSmith 03.15 - 10.16
Greggs 10.16 - 06.17
Savers 11.17 - 09.18
Skills
Undertaking an analytical chemistry and forensic science degree has allowed for me to become well versed in a multitude of transferable skills that could be utilised in industry. These include the execution of a back titration in order to calculate the amount of analyte present in a sample. Organic chemistry labs were a compulsory part of the course allowing me to practice my organic chemistry in both a practical and theoretical setting, with the lab-based exercise involving the synthesis and purification of a cyclic alcohol and also the preparation of an ester with the use of reflux apparatus. Soxhlet and distillation glassware was also introduced in the labs.
I am also versed in a range of analytical practices which were introduced to me in lectures and were reinforced in a laboratory setting. These include: mass spectrometry, gas spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry
