About Henry
My first degree was a BSc in Applied Physics. Since then I have worked in software development and completed an MSc in Information Systems Engineering. So my further education and career have both been within what is now called STEM. It is a world that has gripped my interest and I have always felt the need to try and share that passion with anyone who will listen. Working as a tutor I found a way to do just that. And it gave my friends and family a bit of a break! In my spare time I also very much enjoy dancing (ballroom and salsa), studying history and writing software in the prolog language.

I have always been fascinated by STEM subjects. Studying them has enriched my own understanding of the world. It is this enhanced understanding that I want to lead all my pupils towards. I believe it is key to exam success. As an aid I have developed my own teaching materials for physics, based on mind maps. I find them a great help myself and so do my pupils. The mind maps improve recall, which I used to find a struggle under exam pressure. They also help to connect fragments of information into a cohesive whole, which can help answer more difficult exam questions. Studying physics and working in IT has meant I have had to learn a lot of diverse mathematics. It is another set of skills that I enjoy teaching to help my pupils succeed in reaching their goals.
