About Maddie
I taught for 4 years in a mainstream secondary school where I taught AQA GCSE Geography and my students achieved good results throughout this time. I currently teach at a selective secondary school where I also cover the AQA GCSE Geography spec. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and find it to be a rewarding career where I am able to help students achieve and open doors to their futures. I believe that students who are motivated by a goal are most likely to succeed as they are more likely to be focused and dedicated in their studies. I enjoy delving into learning pedagogy and finding new ways to engage students in my classroom.

I can focus on a particular part of the AQA spec or a particular skill. I have taught the AQA spec for 5 years for a range of abilities, and as such have learnt how to adapt my teaching to help with a variety of issues. I can focus on essay writing techniques, how to include case study information or how to structure answers effectively. I am able to cover aspects of the course or go over topics how you would like. I know a range of case studies relating to the course but I teach the follow main ones: Hazards - Haiti 2010, Tohoku 2011, Typhoon Haiyan and Storm Desmond. Living World - Brazil or Malaysia, Thar Deserts (hot environments). Coasts - Holderness. Glaciation - Lake District. Rivers - River Tees. Urban - Mumbai and Liverpool. Economic - Nigeria and UK. Resources - Energy focus -The dash for gas, and Nepal micro-hydro. Of course I am happy to cover other case studies.
I can go over work you have completed in your class to give your individualised feedback or help you in understanding what the question is wanting and how to meet the requirements of the marks schemes.
