About Katarina
My name is Kat, I'm a 26-year-old professional pianist and composer. I'm a Bachelor of Music, classical piano graduate and I have played pop keys/synth professionally for many years. I enjoy teaching and want to teach because I want people to discover the joy playing piano can really bring you. Playing piano has made me resilient, more focused and creative in every aspect of life and that's what I want to teach. When I see my student being able to play a song they never could have imagined playing, and enjoying it, that really is the greatest feeling. I was taught with a strict classical music approach which didn't leave any room for creativity so I had to learn that aspect myself. In my teaching, I want to encourage my students to create their own music and experiment with different genres although still teaching the great skills I learned from playing classical piano.

My lessons are creativity based, I want to make sure my students learn all necessary skills to become well-rounded pianists while learning how to compose your own music and experiment with the instrument. I guide younger/beginner students to learn skills such as scales and other techniques and start combining classical music and pop music for them to experience both and when they're older and more skilled they can choose their own material to play. I also have a lot of experience teaching adults pop keys and teaching them about chords and accompaniment and new ways of playing their favourite songs.

Perfect! My daughter has been having regular lessons with Katerina for several months now and is loving it. My daughter has gone from not being able to play at all to writing her own songs for fun! I would highly recommend Katerina. 5 stars!
