About Song

I have over 6 years of clarinet playing experience and have taken graded practical music examinations and got distinction. As a student clarinetist, I aim to share my knowledge and help new musicians develop good practice habits and enjoy learning music.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student's learning pace. I focus on building a strong foundation in clarinet playing, including proper posture, embouchure, breathing, fingering, note reading, rhythm, pieces and instrument care. I demonstrate each technique, guide students through practice exercises, and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their confidence and skills.
Lessons will typically last 1 hour for beginners and advanced players, with the option to adjust the duration according to the student's needs and attention span.
My lessons are intended for beginners and early level clarinetists to advanced players (grade 1-5), including children, young students to high schoolers who are starting their musical journey or want to improve their playing.

I was assigned the clarinet in my secondary school symphonic band and I had zero experience on the clarinet. Ms Song guided me through how to properly put on the reed onto the mouthpiece and the basics of being a clarinet player. She is very patient and fun and can adapt to many teaching styles.
