About Jacob
Student at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, class of '29. Keyboardist/vocalist/arranger for the bands “Jazz Common Ground” and “Eighth Element” based in Central Florida. Member of Vanderbilt’s prestigious “Melodores” a cappella group. Recipient of Phillips Academy’s Milton Collier Prize and Fuller Jazz Band Award. Produces music (with Logic Pro) in his free time. Loves and listens to all kinds of music!

Together, we will explore the fundamentals of piano technique, from making a sound to voicing chords. Similarly, we will develop a foundational understanding of music theory, studying scales, rhythms, and basic harmony. Most importantly, I intend to incorporate work that fits the student's musical interests. For instance, if a student happens to be an Ariana Grande fan, let's work on ear training by trying to learn the melody and chords to "Thank U, Next" by ear. Finally, I intend to help my students build the confidence they need to become powerful performers.
