About Bhavya
Dance has always been my safe space to let go and express myself. It is my home on-the-go. I believe anyone can dance and want to share my love and passion for dance with anyone who wants to explore or try something new! After 13 years of devoted practice in Bharatanatyam (classical Indian dance), I completed my debut performance, Arangetram, and was invited to join an international dance tour, commencing in May—an opportunity to launch my dancing career but conflicting with my first year of university. Throughout my dance career, I helped teach basic technique to the younger batches at my temple to help my teacher, and after my Arangetram, I was able to express my gratitude toward my teacher by stepping up as a branch manager for Rangashree Dances of India. I began teaching private lessons to 3-8 year olds once a week and even choreographed routines for them to perform at festivals. Prior to my Arangetram, I had joined my school’s dance team, where I choreographed Bollywood routines for 13-18 year-old students. I explored Hip Hop, began competing on a national level, and became captain of the dance team, choreographing 1st-place routines for competitions.
