About Kyle
I am a Berklee College of Music graduate (Class of 2025) currently based in Toronto, where I work as a composer, performer, and educator. Music has been a central part of my life since a very young age, and over time my interests expanded from performing into composition, arranging, and teaching.
I have been teaching since 2016 and have had the privilege of working with more than 25 students across a variety of instruments and musical disciplines. Many of my students have gone on to win awards at local and international music festivals, and I have also helped prepare students for postsecondary auditions, including a few who were accepted into Berklee College of Music.
Alongside my teaching work, I continue to stay active as a composer and musician, which allows me to bring real-world musical experience directly into my lessons.

My approach to teaching is centered around meeting each student where they are and helping them grow toward their musical goals. Every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to be engaging, hands-on, and both challenging and enjoyable.
I teach drum set in all styles as well as piano (jazz, pop, and rock up to an intermediate level). I also offer instruction in music theory, harmony, composition, and DAW-based music production. For students interested in ensemble playing, I have experience directing jazz bands, orchestras, and string ensembles at the middle school and high school level.
My musical background spans classical, jazz, pop, rock, funk, and Latin traditions, and I aim to give students a well-rounded understanding of music while building strong technique, creativity, and confidence.
Whether a student is just beginning or preparing for auditions or advanced study, my goal is always the same: to help them become thoughtful, capable, and inspired musicians.

Lesson pricing varies depending on the subject and level of specialization.
Instrument lessons (drums or piano): $80 per hour
Music theory and harmony: $60 per hour
Composition, arranging, and advanced musical studies: $110 per hour
Composition lessons are designed for students interested in developing original music, learning advanced theory, orchestration, or exploring scoring and music production.
For instrumental lessons, in-person instruction is strongly recommended for beginners, particularly for drum set. Developing proper technique and physical coordination can be significantly easier when guided in person. Piano can be taught online more easily, though beginners may still benefit greatly from in-person lessons when possible.
If you’re unsure which lesson type is most appropriate, I’m always happy to discuss your goals and recommend the best approach.
