About Teddy
In 2018 I graduated from Berklee College of Music as a pianist and songwriter. During my time there, I got my start teaching music lessons as a summer camp counselor and directing singing groups. Once I moved to New York, I began working at a School of Rock, where I became the most in-demand teacher on staff. Since late 2023 I have been teaching independently to have full say over my curriculum and to ensure that my clients get the individualized attention and thorough instruction they need to flourish.

Every lesson, I encourage students to ask, “First, what went well? Now, what can I make better?” By analyzing their own performances and learning to appreciate their sound, players not only become better musicians, but more complete versions of themselves.
Lessons are adapted to the personal goals of the individual student, but generally follow the same format. We’ll warm up with some keyboard exercises or scales, review any new material from the previous meeting, then start in on the project piece; in the middle, we change direction to a game that develops a skill like ear training, chord recognition or building, or coordination; then we’ll return to our project. In the final few minutes, we write down what was covered so the student can have record of their progress to reference throughout the week.
My top priorities as an educator are to help develop confidence and independence in my students, and to nurture a love of music itself. Success takes many forms, and the skills we hone at the piano positively impact the way we interact with our world. So, whether you want to accompany yourself, write songs, play the classics, get a handle on your theory, or refresh yourself on what you learned as a kid, I’m ready to light the way. Let’s play!
