I believe that the best teaching methodology is through understanding. Once you properly digest the biological principles it becomes easier to regurgitate and manipulate that information on exam days.
I didn't like lessons where I was basically told to just learn the mark scheme and do comprehension work, so I don't intend to tutor that way. I find it best to teach through images, discussion and note taking. I try to make lessons more fun by exploring how we can possibly manipulate biological principles to make what seems impossible in the future more probable (for example the theory that it may be possible to one day devolve a bird genome into a dinosaur). When approaching science like this, the lessons are more interesting and more information is likely to be retained.
I just finished my second year at Brunel university and I average a 2:1 grade. For the advertised subjects I obtained a minimum of A's at GCSE. I am the oldest brother of 4 and I tutor my younger siblings.
I am a self-motivated, hardworking individual with excellent communication and teamwork skills. As a student, I have learnt to manage my time effectively, be diligent in my work and to keep myself organised. I am also excited to learn new skills. I will use the skills I currently possess along with future skills I shall learn and use them to overcome obstacles and challenges I have in the future.
• Highly adaptable and quick to learn new skills.
• Extremely organised.
• Very responsible.
• Able to cope with high amounts of pressure.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Leadership skills
Kentish town city farm (Spring 2013)
I worked at Kentish town city farm during the spring of 2013. Whilst working on the farm, my role was to tend to the farm animals and ensure the animals were healthy and lived in well sanitised stables. This has allowed me to develop skills such as organisation and maintaining a clean work environment.
Duke of Edinburgh award – Bronze and Silver
During secondary school, I completed the duke of Edinburgh award to the silver level. This activity enhanced my teamwork skills as we had to work as a team to hike over mountains whilst carrying our camping equipment and had to communicate to each other the safest and most efficient route to take whilst also keeping a happy atmosphere. These assets would aid me in tutoring as I am able to properly able to communicate ideas and instruction.
Member of St Thomas More Basketball team and Year 7 Basketball team Coach
While playing for the school basketball team I learned and developed a mentality and various skills which will enable me to succeed in the workplace. I am a committed individual as I attended all the basketball practices, which took place 3 days a week and lasted 2.5 hours. To each of these practices I brought a focussed, intense and active mindset, giving my all to my drills.
I also coached the year 7 basketball team at St Thomas More RC Catholic School. I needed leadership skills as the young players looked to me for direction and support. I also needed to be able to analyse their movements and quickly evaluate what they were doing wrong, so I could correct the player and show them the correct fundamentals. This also taught me patience as many times I would have to re do drills until I am happy with the effectiveness and speed of the play. These are great qualities to have as a tutor as I will not feel successful until I feel the content has been learned to a level in which I deem acceptable.
St George Medical Spring School
During the spring holiday of 2014 I attended a week long medical programme where I learnt how to do various things in the medical field. We also had to do a case study where we had to diagnose an illness. This gave me great insight into what it is like to work in the medical field and gave me good transferable skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
I cycled 100 miles to fundraise money for teach first. Through this experience I learnt that through perseverance and hard work huge tasks can be completed. I did the rides with several schoolmates and we motivated each other during training and during the 100-mile ride. This motivation and positivity is crucial as it helps to bring out the success in others.

Carl is a outstanding individual who has previously helped me with studies. He excels in getting information across to others by framing knowledge in a way which is comprehensible to a given person regardless of their level of knowledge.
He is a strong individual who doesn't back down from the challenge and I have had the fortune of knowing Carl for a majority of my life. Anyone seeking a tutor should look no further.
I've known Carl for about 4 years now. He's the kindest person I know and will go far out of his way to help and explain problems. I definitely recommend Carl.
Carl Bile, what a legend.. super smart along with being extremely insightful, this young man has taught me a lot when I was in school so I know he is more than capable of helping students not only achieve their grades but exceed them.
He will be a caring teacher. If anyone doesn't feel interested enough to study, he makes them learn in a different way, not like our uni teachers. If a single student doesn't understand a topic, it reveals the teacher's failure. Carl gives extra time to his students, asking different questions to different students. God bless you.
Carl is a very skilled learner who is able to teach his knowledge to others with ease. He has experience in teaching his siblings and classmates, he always adapts to the weaknesses and strengths of the person he teaches therefore the same lesson taught to different people would not be the same. He is kind, intelligent and selfless, I have had the pleasure of knowing him for 8 years and I would recommend him highly.
I believe Carl is a confident candidate to entrust your learning in. He is a clear communicator and has passion in his studies. I highly recommend his mentorship
